Have you heard of The Floppet? Have you registered yet? Get on it! The event is less than two weeks away and registration is filling up FAST!
This year the Falcon Ridge Ski Slopes, in partnership with the Falcon Sports Club, will be hosting its second annual Floppet loppet Ski Race on Sunday, March 3, 2019.
This unique nordic ski race will wind through the wild and majestic woods of the boreal forest that surround the ski slopes. The trails are well known for their pristine groomed condition, great scenery, and lots of elevation changes. Participants will have the option to choose either classic or skate technique and from three different race distances:
The Tadpole Kids Race: ~1.7km
The Minnow: ~7.5km
The Walleye: ~17.5km
The Northern Pike: ~35km long
Along the way, participants will have the chance to stop at various festive check-points to indulge in some authentic Whiteshell culture. On Saturday night, the eve of the Floppet, there will be a celebration feast, bib pick-up and concert in the chalet by musical powerhouse @kenziejanemusic and her band.
The event is very much geared towards spectators so bring your friends and family! There will be plenty of things for them to do during the whole weekend such as tubing, skating, downhill skiing and snowboarding at the ski hill.
